You can win each battle by either reaching the opposite side fo the battlefield with your troops or have such an efficient kill to death ratio that your enemy's morale falls to zero. You can play a full campaign as either the British or the Germans. To install Warfare 1917, just run it with whatever SWF player you have. Sometimes, they create their own subgenre of strategy games that don't really show up anywhere else. Flash games were and are the most experimental games you can play around as they don't really care what's 'right' and what's 'wrong'.
